Oil, diamonds on Russian leader's agenda in Angola

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday promised more investment in oil- and diamond-rich Angola, a southern African country that has had close relations with Moscow since the Cold War.

Medvedev's one-day visit to Angola came at the end of an African tour that has underlined Moscow's economic interests on the continent.

After Medvedev met President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, the two sides issued a joint communique pledging more Russian investment in such areas as mining, hydroelectric power and communications, but did not offer figures.
