QLD: New peak farm group announces ports exec as first CEO

BRISBANE, Dec 3 AAP - Port of Brisbane executive John Cooper was named today as the first
chief executive officer of Queenslands new peak farm group, AgForce.

Mr Cooper, the general manager of trade and business development at the Port of Brisbane
Corporation, will head AgForce from January.

AgForce is the newly-merged Queensland Graingrowers Association, United Graziers
Association and Cattlemans Union. It represents 6,500 members.

The merger of the three broadacre industry organisations would further strengthen their
lobbying power and streamline their operations, Mr Cooper said.

"I hope to bring to the organisation an acute understanding of the importance of primary
production to the economy, particularly through the export sector, where I oversaw the growth
of exports through Brisbanes port," he said.
